Scenery along Highway 395

My family and I recently went on vacation to Mammoth Mountain. In the past, our timing was off when it came to our quest for epic powder during ski season. This year, we were blessed with freshies. Mammoth Mountain received over 37-inches of new snow over the three day period we were there.

As I was having so much fun snowboarding on pow with friends and family, I didn’t stop to take quality photos from the slopes even though I brought along my Sony A7R IV with me in my PhotoCross 10 sling bag. Instead, I mostly captured video with my GoPro. Fortunately, my wife was kind enough to allow me to stop several times during our drive back home on highway 395 to take the photos below with my Sony camera and 70-200mm lens.

My favorite stops along the way include Coppertop BBQ in Big Pine, Schat’s Bakery in Bishop, Mahogany Smoked Meats in Bishop, and Alabama Hills near Lone Pine for hiking and views of Mt. Whitney (tallest mountain peak in the contiguous 48 states).
