My Gear
Below is a list of gear that I use for photography and video content creation including a summary of what I like about each item. I’ve included links below in case you are considering purchasing any of these products. Purchasing through the provided links on this page grants me a small commission, as a member of the Amazon Associate program, which helps support my work. Some items include an additional link to an updated model or a similar product I’ve used as an alternative.
Thank you to everyone who uses these links to purchase new gear. Your support is greatly appreciated.
Software I use (non-commission links): Adobe Creative Cloud (Bridge, Lightroom, Photoshop), Starry Landscape Stacker (stacking software for nightscape photography and astrophotography), PTGui Pro (panoramic stitching software), Final Cut Pro (video editing), OBS (video recording and live streaming software).
Sony a7R IV Mirrorless Camera
Offering 61 megapixels (MP), this camera gives me the versatility I need when I am shooting landscape photography. It allows me to “zoom in” using APS-C crop mode and still produce 26 MP images. As an example, it turns my 70-200mm lens into the equivalent of a 105-300mm lens while producing outstanding photo and video quality.
Sony FE 24mm F1.4 GM Lens
This fast prime lens is my go-to lens for astrophotography. It gives me a wide angle field of view while capturing pin-sharp points of light, even in the corners, due to its excellent optical performance with minimal distortion and chromatic aberration. All around, a great lens for landscape and night photography.

Sony FE 70-200mm F2.8 GM Lens
The 70-200mm is a versatile lens that can be used for multiple types of photography. I mainly use this lens for sports and portrait photography but I occasionally use it for landscapes as well when I’m further away from my subject and I want to get a tighter composition.

NiSi 100 mm V7 Filter Holder Kit
I decided to switch from circular, screw-in filters to a square filtering system to make it easier to use neutral density (ND) and circular polarizing (CPL) filters on my lens to control the light. The Nisi 100mm filter holder makes it easy to attach and adjust my landscape enhanced CPL filter while layering additional filters (up to three) like the NiSi 100x150mm Nano IR Soft Graduated Neutral Density (GND) Filter (4-Stop). I can easily slide the GND filter up and down to adjust the amount of exposure to certain areas of the image.

Manfrotto 055XPRO 3-Section Aluminum Tripod
When I need a tripod that provides a little more stability and versatility, I reach for my Manfrotto 055 aluminum tripod with XPRO ball head. What I like most about this tripod is the 90 degree centre column mechanism. It can easily be extended horizontally, allowing me to shoot at very low angles with a minimum height of just over 3.5 inches.

DJI Mic
I did exhaustive research on compact wireless mics and decided to purchase the DJI mic for its versatility. Besides coming with an all-in-one charging case, the DJI mic includes USB-C and Lightning adapters to easily connect the receiver to a mobile phone. Also included are magnets for flexible attachment options with the transmitters and a hot shoe adapter for mounting the receiver to a camera. The transmitters also provide built-in storage which is useful for backup recordings.
Zoom H5 Handy Recorder
Although this 4-track digital audio recorder has a detachable built-in stereo X/Y microphone (dual matched unidirectional condenser microphones) for quick and easy recordings, I primarily use the H5 with external XLR microphones like the Sennheiser e835 S or the Audio Technica AT897 Shotgun Condenser Microphone. The H5 can also be used as an audio interface when connected to a computer. When recording in studio, I connect the H5 to my computer via USB cable and attach my XLR microphone through the Cloudlifter CL-1 to boost a clean audio signal.
Lowepro ProTactic 450 AW II
The ProTactic 450 AW II is my primary camera bag which fits most of my essential gear. I love the modular design with an adaptive interior and expandable exterior attachment options via the SlipLock loop system. I can store my notebook computer along with my camera, extra lenses and accessories in addition to attaching my BeFree travel tripod on the side.

MindShift Gear PhotoCross 10 Sling Bag
When I just want to bring my camera, an extra lens and a few accessories (extra cards and batteries), I opt for a smaller, quick-access cross-body camera bag. It is the perfect size when you don’t need a lot of storage for other gear. The weatherproof zippers and materials have proven to hold up in extreme conditions.

Hyperlite Mountain Gear Camera Pod (Large)
When I’m backpacking and already carrying a large pack, I will bring along my Camera Pod and attach it to the front of my backpacking pack. I prefer this over a camera clip as it provides protection against the elements while still allowing quick access to my camera. This bag is durable and incredibly light weighing in at only 3.7 oz.
